Garbage & Recycling
2026 Garbage and Recycling Information
Residents are advised to contact Blue Diamond (973) 598-9800 with trash or recycling concerns to ensure a timely response, as they are responsible for trash and recycling operations.
All residents should remember:
- Two (2) 45-gallon containers each week may be placed curbside, each weighing no more than 40 lbs. Blue Diamond has the right to refuse to pick up cans with a capacity greater than 45 gallons or weighing greater than 40 lbs.
- Containers are to be placed curbside prior to 6 a.m. for Tuesday trash pickup and Friday recycling pickup. If trash or recycling is placed at curbside after pickup, Blue Diamond is not obligated to return.
- One (1) bulk item may be placed curbside with regular (Tuesday) trash per week
(sofa, chair, dresser, mattress, desk, rolled carpets, exercise equipment, etc.). - After collection, all containers must be removed by 7 p.m. on the day of collection.
In some areas where streets are narrow, it is important that the road is not blocked. If vehicles or other obstructions are blocking the road and prohibiting the trash/recycling truck access, the police will be called. This could result in trash/recycling not being picked up until the following week.

Byram Township supports NJ's Clean Communities Program. Several community volunteer groups participate in annual clean-ups and results are reported to New Jersey. Byram Township receives funds from these efforts, which are applied to recycling initiatives.
